Key Scripture: Ephesians 3:16-21; 4:11-16
After the excitement of Christmas fades, what comes next? Guest Pastor Rick Bonfim challenges us to reflect on how we carry the spirit of Christmas into the rest of the year. Christmas isn’t just a historical celebration; it’s the start of a lifelong journey of faith, growth, and service.
1. Nurturing the Life of Christ Within Us
Just as Mary and Joseph nurtured Jesus, we too must care for the new life Christ brings into us when we receive Him. Paul reminds us to “grow up” in faith, striving toward spiritual maturity to reflect the fullness of Christ. This involves:
- Bible Study: Personally studying God’s Word.
- Prayer: Listening to God as much as we speak.
- Fellowship: Growing in community with other believers.
- Obedience: Living out God’s instructions in our daily lives.
2. Sharing the Good News
When the festivities are over, the true work of Christmas begins. Jesus’ birth was announced to shepherds, celebrated by Magi, and proclaimed by John the Baptist. We too are called to be witnesses—sharing the hope and love of Christ wherever we go.
3. Living the Christmas Mission
Pastor Bonfim challenges us not to pack away Christmas like ornaments but to let it transform our lives. The mission of Christmas is ongoing:
- Bring peace to relationships.
- Comfort the brokenhearted.
- Care for the hungry and lonely.
- Share the Gospel through word and action.
Let us grow in faith, reflect God’s love, and “Go tell it on the mountain” that Jesus Christ is born.
