Today, let’s explore the powerful message from Ephesians 4 and its significance in our lives. We often hear about revival and awakening, but what does that really mean? And how does it relate to us as the bride of Christ?
The Wedding Supper of the Lamb
Imagine a grand feast in heaven, the wedding supper of the Lamb. This is where all who have honored Jesus as Lord will gather to celebrate the union of Christ and His church. But before we can take part in this celebration, we must be ready as the spotless, holy bride that Christ is looking for.
Revival and Awakening
Revival refers to a short-term, intense manifestation of God’s presence, while an awakening is a broader, long-term movement that brings people back to God. The ultimate revival, however, is the one that will go on forever in God’s eternal kingdom. But before that happens, we, as the church, must be ready.
Being a Holy Bride
Ephesians 4:22-24 calls us to put off our old selves, corrupted by deceitful desires, and to be made new in the attitude of our minds. We are to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. This means being holy in all that we do—at work, at home, and in every aspect of our lives.
Practical Holiness
Living a holy life involves more than just avoiding obvious sins like lying, stealing, and immorality. It also means controlling our tongue, avoiding coarse jokes, and treating others with kindness and respect. James 3 reminds us of the power of our words and the importance of taming our tongues to build others up rather than tearing them down.
Preparing for Christ's Return
Jesus is coming back for a pure and spotless bride. Are we ready? Have we put away bitterness, anger, and malice? Have we chosen kindness, compassion, and forgiveness instead? Revival starts with us—when we humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways.
Conclusion
Let’s commit today to preparing ourselves as the holy bride of Christ. Let’s resist the devil, cleanse our hearts, and live in a way that honors God in everything we do. Only then can we truly be ready for the glorious day when we will join Christ at the wedding supper of the Lamb.
